Apple Tree Arts Sonatina Festival
Saturday, May 4, 2019
$20 entrance fee
Current piano students at Apple Tree Arts are invited to participate in the inaugural Apple Tree Arts Sonatina Festival on Saturday, May 4th.
This festival is not a competition, but an opportunity to perform and receive written feedback from professional musicians other than their private instructor. It is designed to promote the study of music, to inspire students to begin delving into standard classical repertoire and analysis, and to encourage each participant to reach a high standard of musical achievement. The festival is intended for students of all ages, levels, and abilities.
Students will be assigned to an hour-long recital slot where they may perform either a single movement from a sonatina/sonata or a whole sonatina/sonata. After each performance in the recital, there will be time for comments to be written about the student's performance. All participants will get to read those comments at their next lesson and will receive a certificate at the end of the school year. Students who bring their music for the judges and perform from memory will also receive a grade and earn up to 5 points. Students can accumulate points over multiple years and will receive a visible display of their achievement for every ten points earned.
